Shinya Suzuki

Embedded System (HW & SW) Designer

Shinya Suzuki has been designing systems for more than three decades. He designed his first computer, the Ontel Amigo, in 1981.

At Playground, the Embedded Systems Designer is working on the development of projects ranging from teleconference video cameras to Internet-of-Things open source platforms. Previously he was tech lead and architect for the MicroConsole at cloud-based gaming service OnLive.

Shinya says he loves Playground’s energy. “There are a lot of young, young people here. The last thing I want to be is a grumpy old man.”

In his free time, Shinya continues to seek youthful creativity. He regularly attends the Burning Man gathering in the heat of Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Recently, he developed and tested his own solar-powered, air-conditioned RV for the event.

“Without using a drop of fossil fuel, I can enjoy cool air,” he says. “When I first set the stuff up and powered something completely from solar energy, I felt such freedom.”
