Biography

Linda Jiang

Senior Industrial Designer

Senior Industrial Designer Linda Jiang often looks at a device and thinks, “How can this product be improved for the end user?”

The thought popped into her head, for example, when she was trying to open a can whose lid wasn’t perfectly round. “Because of that, the can opener malfunctioned. It couldn't go over the tight corners,” Linda says. “Why can't this can opener perform its one job—open a can?”

“Good design is problem solving,” Linda says. “As consumers’ needs evolve alongside advancing technologies, design has to adapt in order to fill in the gaps between human and machine.” At Playground, she’s excited to imagine meaningful products that utilize tech innovations to provide solutions to everyday dilemmas.

The College for Creative Studies graduate was part of the Consumer Experience Design team at Motorola Mobility, where she contributed to a range of different consumer products, including the design and launch of the 2015 Moto G smartphone. In 2014, Linda was recognized as an up-and-coming female designer during San Francisco Design Week.

“I've always been into fine arts. The mixture of aesthetic beauty with actual functionality —that's what's driven me towards industrial design,” Linda says. “I’m pumped to work with a group of forward-thinkers that share similar values and principles.”
