Biography

Chris Kraeutle

Senior Product Designer

Chris Kraeutle enjoys learning new things, navigating the bridge of unknown design challenges from idea to tangible artifact.

For him, joining Playground as Senior Product Designer in August 2015 was a natural extension of his curiosity and passion to help people develop their ideas. “What I most enjoy is randomly running across a product that I’ve helped design. It’s so satisfying to see people using the products that I’ve lost sleep over.”

Previously, Chris led Kindle Product Design Teams at Amazon Lab126 that brought the Kindle Basic eReader and Kindle Paperwhite to life. He also spent more than a decade building at SurfaceInk Product Development where he innovated with many Bay Area tech titans such as Apple, Palm, HP, Netgear and SanDisk, as well as startups Green Toys, Zonare, and Vocera.

Chris has worked on dozens of products across the consumer electronics industry including Apple’s first titanium laptop, the PowerBook G4, and Palm’s first smartphone, the Tungsten W.

At Playground, Chris says he enjoys helping startups bring ideas to life, especially in the Internet of Things arena. “I'm helping them pull together requirements and identify next steps,” he says. “But, the real art of collaboration lies in how you work together as a team to achieve the goal. There’s no ‘I’ in team.”
