A native of Sydney, Australia, Alistair has worked with a variety of startups in the Bay Area, which helped him develop the habit of “challenging key assumptions early and often,” he says.
That’s useful in his work at Playground, where he focuses on early-stage, in-house product development projects, and helps our companies “avoid the trap of derivative thinking, which is the opposite of innovation.”
Alistair recently completed his degree at Stanford, where he twice won computer science project fairs. On one undergraduate project, he teamed up with three other students to build an app that encouraged users to seek out one real-world moment of bliss a day.
“There’s a huge amount of optimism about technology” at Playground, he says, “and because of that there’s very little stigma against big, audacious ideas.”
